Jimi Hendrix "Voodoo Child" Album Review

a must have collection
if you are just getting started on your Jimi Hendrix collection then this is a good place as any to start. all of the hits plus live versions are here. Hendrix of course is known for his Guitar playing and the incredible Innovative tones and sounds he created with his bare hands. but he also played other instruments and he created a hybrid of Arrangements and Grooves that have inspired countless musicians over the years. he had alot of Groove and Passion in his playing and he didn't leave anything behind as a Artist.a Great Artist and collection. Hendrix played the Blues and had everything else to go along with it and his own bag of playing and styling.

Smashing Pumpkins "Earphoria" Album Review

This promotional CD finally got a commercial release...
Earphoria was originally a promotional CD released in 1994, as a kind of "soundtrack" for the Vieuphoria videotape. This CD was finally made commercially available in 2002. This disc contains live performances and previously unreleased studio material. Overall, the sound quality for the live material is rather decent (except for "Geek USA" and "Silverf***," which both have a more "hollow" sound to them).

Most of the studio material is pretty good, except for "Why am I So Tired." This is a fifteen-minute long intrumental that starts out promising, but it never really progresses and becomes redundant and boring rather quickly.

The tracks on the CD are arranged in the same order that they appeared in Vieuphoria. Unfortunately, this means that the two longest tracks appear back-to-back on the disc, and it makes the last half hour of the disc very tedious to listen to.

Overall, this is a decent CD and should be in the collection f any die-hard Smashing Pumpkins fan or collector. However, it's unlikely that a more casual fan of the band would get very much out of this CD.

This is a live version of Cherub Rock by the Smashing Pumpkins, you can find a copy of the song on their album called "Earphoria" I figured out how to play this song a couple of years ago when i first started to play guitar. ~Enjoy

Frank Zappa "Zappa Picks Larry Lalonde (Primus)" Album Review

Good stuff...for sure..
A Little background about myself... Primus is and has been my favorite band for a few years now, I own nearly every album that les claypool has released (sausage, holy mackeral, primus, etc.). I was wondering through my local CD shop, and came across Frank Zappa. I had heard a few songs prior to this.. Crew Slut, I'm The Slime, and a couple others and loved them...

I did a double take when i saw this album, in all it's glory, displayed on the shelf. Larry LaLonde's favorite Zappa tunes... is this for real? Next thing you know, it's spinning in my CD Player....

This album opened me up to more frank zappa material, and being a low-income college kid, i haven't had a chance to pick up anything else up by Zappa, but i do go over to the Zappa section at the CD Shop and drool occasionally... I'm planning on buying Joe's Garage (all 3) and Over-Nite Sensation as soon as funds allow.

This CD gets played nearly as much as my Primus collection, It's an awesome album.. i'm especially fond of Camarillo Brillo and Fine Girl... but the CD is a good listen all the way through. Anyone who thinks that this and Jon Fishman's Picks are a rip-off or a scandal need to lighten up. I'm sure these CDs will open up a lot of Phish and Primus fans to the very unique, and fun tunes that are Frank Zappa....

Obviously, if you already own his whole collection, then there is no point in buying these albums, but otherwise, check them out.

Wallflowers "Red Letter Days" Album Review

Long Live Rock and Roll
Red Letter Days is an example of great musicianship. The song writing is powerful, and the vocals are, as always, distinct. The best part is how the whole album listens from start to finish. If you're looking for music to get deep into, this is it. It had my playing air guitar and singing along. Great fun for a 24 year old! ;)

Video "If you never got sick" - The Laptop Sessions

Here is my first contribution to Fusco-moore.com's "Laptop sessions" - it is also my first video of any kind. This song is called "If you never got sick" by the Wallflowers, which is fronted by Bob Dylan's son Jakob. It is from their album "Red Letter Days". This song was always a favorite of mine, since it was introduced by Chris Moore to me. When I learned how to play it, it became a favorite of my wife's as well, and she frequently asks me to play it for her. I hope I do the original justice, and I hope you are enjoying the laptop sessions.
