Deep Purple "1990-1996" Album Review
A 3-disc compilation...
Made in EU in 2004, Serial# 82876-62334-2, Playing Time 173:04
At the time this review is written, there is no "track listing" posted. So for those of you interested in knowing more about this 3-CD release, here's the scoop:
Each disc consists of tracks focusing on 1 album, plus 2 live tracks (always lifted from the "Come Hell Or High Water" album).
Disc 1 concentrates on the "Purpendicular" release, and contains them all, except for 5 of them: "Loosen My Strings", "Soon Forgotten", "Cascades: I'm Not Your Lover", "The Purpendicular Waltz" and "Don't Hold Your Breath" are all absent; added are the live recordings of "Speed King" and "Highway Star".
Disc 2 concentrates on the "The Battle Rages On" release, and has 8 of the 10 original tracks; missing are "Anya" and "Nasty Piece Of Work"; added are the live recordings of "Child In Time" and "Perfect Strangers".
Disc 3 concentrates on the "Slaves And Masters" album, and features 7 of the 9 original tracks; missing are "Breakfast In Bed" and "Too Much Is Not Enough"; added are the live recordings of "Anya" and "Smoke On The Water".
This means that the set includes 6 of the 9 tracks from the "Come Hell Or High Water" album; omitted are "Anyone's Daughter", "A Twist In The Tale" and "Black Night".
The packaging is very simple: 3 jewel cases, held together by a slipcase; each CD contains the licensing info, but no liner notes, no lyrics, no pictures. Very basic indeed.
Strangely enough, there's enough "space" left on the discs so that all 4 albums in their entirety could have fitted on the 3 discs; instead, we're "short changed" by about 1 hour of remaining tracks.
You'll have to decide for yourself whether to pick up the 4 albums separately, or pick this up for roughly the price of a single disc!

Wonderful & stunning !
I have owned this on CD for many many years . I ordered this title on DVD-Audio and I have been totally shocked at the sound quality . The clarity of the music is crystal in both DVD-AUdio and in DTS .
An absolute masterpiece ! Highly recommended !!

The boys have created a decent album, with a few memorable tunes and other that won't grab your attention, unless you're into quirky lyrics without restrictions and into southern USA & its implications.

My favorite electronica CD
Out of the 20 trance/house/chill/lounge CDs I own this is my favorite CD. It's just smooth, easy listening music without a lot of focals. I love to listen to this CD at work when things get stressful and it's the perfect to listen to when I get home and need something to relax to.
